MOTIVATION
TIPS FOR WEIGHT LOSS
Here are some tips to keep you motivated when
you find that staying on your weight loss program gets tough.
- Don't ever give up! Never view yourself as a failure. The only time
you fail is when/if you quit. It may take more research or a different
approach but it 'will' happen. Statistics show that most people do not
succeed their first time trying. Nothing can take the place of
persistence! Not intelligence, not talent, nothing! Everything else is
secondary.
- If you find that you have trouble getting excited about diet or
exercise try working out with a friend or getting a 'diet partner.' That
way you will not feel so alone and you can feed off of each other when the
other one is feeling down. Great motivation!
- Think you're not doing well? Take a look at some older pictures of
yourself, when you were at your heaviest (the ones you really detest),
notice anything? If so, great! If not, just visualize what your 'after'
pictures will look like!
- Do you really believe that you can lose weight? The most
successful people are the ones who actually believe they can do it.
For many, a low self-esteem plays a big part. Just
remember, you are worthy of losing weight. You can do it! For some
this takes an event of some significance, for others it just happens. One
day you will wake up and say "This is it, I am going to this." Nothing
will be able to stop you!
- Train yourself to focus on your successes, not your
failures. You can accomplish whatever you set your mind to do. In fact,
there are cases where people almost did everything wrong and still
succeeded. They didn't just want it, they needed it! Never give up and
keep learning!
- You should always remember that motivation starts with reasons. Write
them down if you have to. Here are some examples:
. I want to fit my old clothes again!
. I want to feel good!
. I want to be around longer for my family!
. I want to look good!
. I'm sick and tired of feeling bad about myself!
Most of all you should have fun! Reward yourself! This
will help immensely.
