Desktop Dieting Tips
Successful dieting
involves burning more calories than you take in but sometimes when
you are sitting at a desk all day it is hard to stay on your
program . Here are some tricks and tips to help you avoid excessive
snacking and get in some much needed exercise.

Snack smartly.
If you're one of those people that like to snack when you are at
your desk or on the computer, it helps to be prepared. Keep
healthy choices handy so you don't rush off for a quick visit to
the vending machine. One smart suggestion is to keep snacks
stowed away in a file cabinet instead of on your desktop. Out of
sight, out of mind.

Drink up. Just the
opposite for this one. Keep your water in sight and you'll easily
drink your six 8-ounces glasses by the end of the day. Keep a
bottle or glass full of fresh water nearby at all times.

Plan lunchtime.
Schedule
your lunch time to protect against cravings is smart. It
may help if you eat part of your lunch mid-morning and then
finish it at lunch. Also, it's best to bring your lunch from home
so you can plan your intake. It's much harder to eat lunch
out and stay on your plan.

Get moving.
Even if it's just 10 minutes of exercise, get up and move
whenever possible. If you are able to, take a walk at lunch even
if it's just a quick trip around the parking lot. Get your
exercise in before and after work to make up for the time you
spend sitting at your desk. Maybe you can walk to work or instead
of spending an hour in traffic , after work, spend some of that
time in a close to work gym so that when you're finished rush
hour is over.

Co-worker support.
Get your fellow workers to join you in your weight
loss efforts so you can encourage each other throughout the day.
You can have healthy lunches together and exercise together on
breaks.

Use free-time
wisely.
Use free time at your desk to log foods into your
weight loss journal and plan your meals. If you are able to use
the internet, research exercise options and find weight loss
support options on line.
