While this is certainly an important part of weight loss, there is an even more important part: keeping the weight off. Few of us consider the long-term when we decide we want to get in shape and this often leads us to make decisions that are short-sighted, ultimately resulting in our inability to keep the weight off for any significant period of time. In short, lots of us can take it off, but in order to succeed we have to keep it off. A lot of diet programs emphasize losing weight quickly, in some cases so quickly that it is unhealthy, and make no mention of maintaining your goal weight after you've reached it. We want results, we want them quickly, and we don't want to think about this stuff at all after we've achieved those results. You can't think that way if you want to get in shape and stay there. Weight loss is a marathon not a sprint. On the average, a healthy rate of weight loss is one to one and a half pounds per week. This rate of weight loss is attainable quite easily without a whole lot of drastic measures. You will have to change, specifically by consuming fewer calories and exercising a bit, but you will not have to move into your local gym, and you certainly won't have to starve yourself. You can do it! Be sure to read the article on breaking the weight gain habit. I've also included an article on tips for getting flatter abs. Have a good week! Until next time...stay on your plan and stay healthy! Pat Everyday choices play a huge part in creating our vision of a new healthy self, which is the subconscious mental programming that control our body's metabolism. So it becomes important (when we are thinking to ourselves, or even talking to others) that we think of ourselves as being healthy, and at the very least, thinking that we are on the road to fitness - even if we are not there yet! Basically this means: We become what we think - if we think of ourselves as 'fat and unhealthy', we will eventually become that way - and likewise if we begin to think of ourselves in terms of 'increasing fitness and health', we will slowly but surely gravitate in the direction of healtht and fit. Find a convenient time and place to do activities. Try to make it a habit, but be flexible. If you miss an exercise opportunity, work activity into your day another way.
