It seems like my daughter was just getting on the bus for her first day of school and here she is graduating. Where am I going with this topic? Graduation is the ultimate goal of schoolwork just as weight loss is the ultimate goal of dieting. Most of us know what we should be doing to achieve our goals but we lack the motivation or willpower to stick at it. If you are like me, when you start on a weight loss or get fit plan, you tend to jump in and over do everything. Sure, sometimes you last from one to three weeks, but then the initial motivation leaves us and that's when we give up. The first mistake we make is going into everything too fast. When you change your eating habits, don't make drastic changes at the beginning. Start by only making a few changes to your eating habits and as you go along keep making more small changes to your diet, do it all slowly. It is the same with exercising. It takes a long time to change old habits. It's HARD work, and you can't expect all the results you want at once. But please, you must give yourself time to let the benefits of regular exercising and healthy eating to start to take effect. I'm sure you heard this before..."you didn't put it on overnight and it isn't going to come off overnight." Be sure to read the article on the easiest way to lose weight. I've also included an article on creating a weight loss walking habit. Have a good week! Until next time...stay on your plan and stay healthy! Pat Stretch your meals to, at least, 20 minutes or longer. Your stomach, mouth and brain are all connected and it takes 20 minutes of chewing before your stomach signals your brain that you are full. To successfully lose weight, you need to eat slowly for 20 minutes or longer. Exercise is probably the most important key to increasing your metabolism and burning off excess fat. Research shows that you burn more stored fat for energy when you do aerobic exercises on an empty stomach. You burn more stored fat when you exercise late in the day rather than in the morning. The best time to exercise to lose weight is in the late afternoon/early evening before dinner. Doing this will not only burn off stored fat but increase your metabolism for about two to three more hours just when it was starting to slow down. This produces a significant increase in fat burned off, even after the exercise is over. Second best time to exercise is in the morning before breakfast. "Put all your excuses
aside and remember this: YOU are capable."
