Welcome to all of our new subscribers, I'm glad you're here. To all of our old subscribers I'm glad you're here too!

Did you every see people eat a diet soda with a candy bar? Kind of seems counter productive doesn't it? You may be thinking every little bit helps and maybe it does but you have to make the effort so it falls more in favor of weight loss.

Many people take up regular exercise because they want to lose weight or, at least control their weight and maintain it at an acceptable level. If exercise is used to supplement a weight reducing diet, then it can be very effective as it increases your metabolic rate and helps burn up calories.

However, exercise alone will not reduce weight and it is no good running for 30 minutes if you eat cream buns and chocolate bars afterwards. Some people find that their weight stays pretty steady during the first few weeks of an exercise program, although when they look in the mirror they appear slimmer and firmer as their bodies become stronger and more supple. Everybody responds differently and even if weight loss is slow at first, do not let it get you down, because all your hard work will produce results and a slimmer figure, although it may take longer for your body to respond to increased exercise than it does for some other people.

Remember that sensible diet and regular exercise are the most effective ways to lose weight and keep it off for good.

Easy Tip Of The Week:

BASIC EATING ADVICE

1. Eat only when you are really hungry. (I don't mean starve yourself. Just be sure you are hungry.)
2. Enjoy your food when you eat it. Never rush a meal.
3. Don't eat absent-mindedly, or out of boredom.
4. Chew well so that the digestive enzymes can begin their work before the food reaches the stomach.

A proper exercise program must include:

Aerobics--for cardiovascular fitness and to burn calories.
Weight Training--to promote muscle tone and strength, and to burn calories.
Stretching--for increased flexibility.

Recipe

Lighter Easy Garlic Cheese Biscuits
2 cups Reduced Fat baking mix
2/3 cup skim milk
1/2 cup shredded reduced fat Cheddar cheese (2 ounces)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Butter flavored nonstick cooking spray, optional

Heat oven to 450° F.

Mix baking mix, milk, cheese and garlic powder to make a soft dough. Beat vigorously 30 seconds. Drop dough by 10 to 12 spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Spray warm biscuits with cooking spray before removing from cookie sheet. Serve warm.

Makes 10 to 12 biscuits

Per Biscuit: 110 calories
