Staying on track on vacation is no simple task as I'm sure you know. Here are some tips I used: 1. Keep moving. Build sandcastles with your kids. Take walks in the morning and evening. Great way to see the sites. 2. Pack healthy. Bring along some healthy snack such as apples or other fruit to help you avoid the junk food that is so much a part of vacations. 3. Chew all your food thoroughly and if you must eat junk food just try a sample to get over the craving. 4. Stay busy. Don't let boredom cause you to eat unwisely. You can have a wonderful vacation and still lose weight or at least maintain it! Be sure to read the article on negative calorie foods and weight loss. I've also included an article with more information on dieting on vacation. Have a good week! Until next time...stay on your plan and stay healthy! Pat Sometimes really all you want is the taste...what! Yes, if you are dieting and craving something like cookies just have one or two, it won't kill you. Then after that just drink some water. In the end, if you are really trying and working hard everything will balance out. For example, some days you do excellent and do more than what is required while other days you might cheat. Remember, we are all human! A little cheating once or twice a week will save you from really binging if you try and fight it. Remember that diet and exercise are a 50/50 ratio. If one or the other is missing you will be less likely to succeed! You can exercise until you pass out but if you are taking in too many calories you won't see dramatic changes in your appearance. And if you don't exercise your body will more likely use muscle for energy rather than fat. Aerobic exercise burns fat! Starvation eats up muscle! "The time for action is now. It's never too late to do something."
